Therefore let the entire house of Israel know with certainty that God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified.
Acts 2:36
We are learning how to be the Church in Silicon Valley, an area dominated by high technology companies, and filled with people who focus on invention and innovation in a fast-paced, competitive, secular environment. We strive to bring the energy and innovation of a start-up company to our members and to those we hope to welcome to the Church. In our mission field, over half the population is not affiliated with any church, yet most people claim to be spiritual (not religious). We thrive on testing new ideas and approaches within our Episcopal tradition that might draw seekers to explore what we have to offer.

We choose to base our parish profile on the Church described in Acts 2 because it is the scriptural model for a community of believers surrendering to the power of the Holy Spirit. Like the first believers, we know Whom we serve, and our faith is not limited to Sunday worship or to our church grounds. The spiritual intimacy we enjoy is evident in the strength of our relationships with one another, in the friendships of our children, and in the warm welcome newcomers receive from us. The fruit of our fellowship, study and prayer is a desire to serve the community beyond our walls.

When Jesus had something important to say, he told a story. Our stories reveal God’s deepest callings to us when we take the time to listen carefully to one another. Through Appreciative Inquiry, we have shared our stories about ministry: what has worked well, helped us to grow, and sustained us over time. Our individual stories are connected to the deeper universal story of the Gospel and the wisdom within our stories often emerges through the telling. Our stories demonstrate how we live out our core values of Invitation, Formation, Service, Worship, and Community. Some of our stories are included in this profile and we encourage you to reflect on text, pictures, and stories as you learn more about us.

As we submit more fully to the power of the Holy Spirit, the Church will take our strong sense of community into the world with passionate purpose. The Church will have fewer walls and more doors that invite seekers to enter into the body of Christ and encourage believers to go out in service to the world. Grounded in the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ, we eagerly anticipate the continuing movement of the Holy Spirit at St. Timothy’s and we invite you to share that exciting future with us.
We are St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and we welcome you. We believe the Holy Spirit has blessed us to be a blessing, empowering us to spread the Good News with confidence and boldness. Through God’s grace, we offer the Keys to the Kingdom: shared fellowship and worship together as a family. We hope to share our bounty with you.
